Nineteenth Entry [Video]

[Poland, dressed in his 15th century Sunday best, is in a smallish room bedecked with candles and crosses. Today, it's also decorated with white cloth hangings and flowers everywhere. After all that Lenten fasting, it appears he was able to will his room to have a chapel attached!]

So, um. I know not everyone here is Christian, but... Today's a really important day for those of us who are, and I kinda wanted to share that with people. So like, I wanted to start the day with a reading from Matthew for everyone! And Liet and I have been making tons of sweets and pisanki for today, if anyone wants to come hang out and help us eat them...

But first things first~ [He crosses himself, then picks up a huge, leather-bound Bible with vellum pages, flipping it open to a page he'd marked and beginning to read aloud. His Latin accent is actually pretty good, because he's had a LOT of practice since his baptism over 400 years ago.]

A lesson from the Gospel of Matthew:

Vespere autem sabbati quae lucescit in primam sabbati venit Maria Magdalene et altera Maria videre sepulchrum
et ecce terraemotus factus est magnus angelus enim Domini descendit de caelo et accedens revolvit lapidem et sedebat super eum
erat autem aspectus eius sicut fulgur et vestimentum eius sicut nix
prae timore autem eius exterriti sunt custodes et facti sunt velut mortui
respondens autem angelus dixit mulieribus nolite timere vos scio enim quod Iesum qui crucifixus est quaeritis.

[He closes the Bible, and holds it up in front of him with a reverent little bow.]

[Setting the Bible aside, he gives the camera a happy smile.]

[OOC: I'm... not Catholic, so there are more or less guaranteed to be little errors here. But I tried! And happy Easter to everyone from the mun, too, while I'm OOC note-ing~]

Uh-huh! It's pretty much just a boiled egg, see? Except like, the egg's boiled in dye, and then you scratch patterns through the dye to the shell so they show up white!

[He's blushing a little at the compliment]

I guess I've gotten pretty good at making them. I like, used to make them WAY back when I was a pagan, and I've done it like, every spring since then~

I'm not really patient at all, but like, it's fun, so I get carried away! Anyway, they won't last forever whether or not you eat them, 'cause they'll get all manky and stuff if you don't, so you might as well~

I'll have to get some sweets later. Chess...? No, I haven't played it before, but it wouldn't hurt to try. It's kind of like checkers, isn't it?

Just stand in front of the closet and like, think "I want a set of checkers" or whatever, and open it up!

[Rose nodded, doing as he instructed. After thinking she needed checkers, she opened it up. she noticed a checkers set sitting there randomly. She grabbed it, slightly shocked and amused at the same time, and shut the closet as she came back.]

Sure! We can play on the floor, or on the bed, or I guess we could like, clear off a table or something.

[Rose just made room on the floor, setting up the checker board and the checker pieces in the designated spots.]

Okay, so, first of all. You're the red checkers and I'm the black.

'Kay. So like, what do I do with them?

Okay so, the objective is to capture the opponent's checkers. Though, there is only 3 or 4 possible ways to move. First is you move like this or to the right.

[Rose showed him how to move them because I don't know how to explain it]

Or if you reach the opponent's side, you get checkmated which allows you to move back and forth, unlike the others. You can only move forward with the ones that arn't check mated.

Kind of. You can skip over the opponents if it doesn't have one behind it and that's how you get their pieces.
