Nineteenth Entry [Video]

[Poland, dressed in his 15th century Sunday best, is in a smallish room bedecked with candles and crosses. Today, it's also decorated with white cloth hangings and flowers everywhere. After all that Lenten fasting, it appears he was able to will his room to have a chapel attached!]

So, um. I know not everyone here is Christian, but... Today's a really important day for those of us who are, and I kinda wanted to share that with people. So like, I wanted to start the day with a reading from Matthew for everyone! And Liet and I have been making tons of sweets and pisanki for today, if anyone wants to come hang out and help us eat them...

But first things first~ [He crosses himself, then picks up a huge, leather-bound Bible with vellum pages, flipping it open to a page he'd marked and beginning to read aloud. His Latin accent is actually pretty good, because he's had a LOT of practice since his baptism over 400 years ago.]

A lesson from the Gospel of Matthew:

Vespere autem sabbati quae lucescit in primam sabbati venit Maria Magdalene et altera Maria videre sepulchrum

[He goes to the table where he's got all the food, offering Yujinn an egg dyed purple, with pretty patterns carved into it. Then he waves at the other food on the table]

[He takes the egg, but it looks way too pretty to eat. Instead he focuses on the other food at the table, trying a little of everything since it was all new to him.]

[He bites at his lip a little. It feels... weirdly dry, so he lets his tongue dart out to wet it.]

Well, um, like... You might know him as "Lithuania", that's his whole name. Liet's just my nickname for him, from the word his people have for him, and no one else really calls him that...

We've known each other forever, and we've always had pretty close trade and hung out and stuff. Um, he's the kingdom--well, Grand Duchy-- right next door to me at home, so we've always had some stuff in common. Like, we both grow tons of grain, and we're both into raising horses, and stuff.

[The nervous fidgeting with his hair that he usually does when talking to strangers face to face is turning out not to be a great plan; the feeling of his hair being tugged even just a bit makes something twist in him a little, which he tries to ignore.]

He's like, a good cook, and a great ally on the battlefield, and super nice and patient and all. So like... yeah...

[He shakes his head, blushing a little brighter] No--I mean, like, yeah, I'm totally fine, but it's defs a bit warm, I'm gonna go open the window...

[He gets up and does so, lingering over near the window in the hopes that the fresh air will clear his head a bit] A-Anyway, yeah, like I said, he's my best friend! Our trade is strong and we have a pretty awesome military alliance and our royal houses are linked and everything.

[Yujinn happened to be an expert in blushing, since he was incidentally an expert in causing them. That was an interested blush which seemed... just a little out of character for the shy blonde.]

Yeah, totally! The priests didn't used to let me do the decorated egg thing, 'cause like, I used to make them for the feast of spring when I was a little kid and hadn't learned about Christianity, but they lifted the ban a couple of hundred years ago and said it's okay as long as it's properly blessed! I'm glad, 'cause they're way fun to make.
